HIGH DEFINITION VIDEOS
I'm posting some High Definition videos here that I've shot
with the camera described below.
If your internet connection is fast enough and your
computer is recent, either Windows Vista or Windows 7,
and if the internet is not congested,
both HD formats I'm using (WMV HD & MP4 HD) should stream.
If not,
you can download the videos
to your computer by right-clicking the links and choosing "Save Target/Link As...",
or use the YouTube Link, choosing the
720p or 1080p resolution and Full Screen.
My Camera: Sony Cyber-shot DSC-WX5
Images: 12.2 megapixels
-
Video format: 1080i AVCHD
This camera, about the size
of a cell phone, is excellent for casual shooting.
At about $300 in 2010 it was reasonably priced. but there are two caveats: 1)
You need to buy a flash memory card, it doesn't come with one.
2) Battery life is not good, so you must buy a second battery.
That brings the price to about $450 - no longer cheap.
I didn't have to pay for mine, so I love it! |

Halloween Pumpkins ...
November 3, 2011 - 3 min
The sun was shining Thursday afternoon on November 3,
and I remembered the Victoria custom of lining the Mt. Doug Park Way
with Halloween pumpkins. By the weekend there may be even more, but
the sun might not shine. So, imagine the road with twice as many if
you prefer... :-)

Christmas in Vancouver
December 24/31, 2010 - 13 min
I went to Vancouver to spend Christmas with my friend
Scott. The ferry ride over on Christmas Eve was pretty rough, being
the tail end of a stormy night. Christmas itself was warm and rainy,
but then the weather became quite wonderful.

Flying from Victoria's Inner
Harbour
December 9, 2010 - 4 min 50 sec
This is the way the harbour looked on a Victoria
winter afternoon. Two seaplanes taking off, I was hoping to catch
one landing, but no joy.

Inner Harbour to Oak Bay
December 4, 2010 - 15 minutes
Same sunny Victoria December afternoon. From the
east side of the inner harbour, legislative buildings on the left,
along the east coast going north through Oak Bay (home of the nearly
dead), to Cattle Point, where my camera's battery ran out of juice.

Looking East from the Esquimault
Lagoon
&
North from Mount Tolmie Park
November 29, 2010 - 1 min 30 sec
Test videos:
a) The coast west of Victoria at the Royal Roads Lagoon near the
Fisgard Lighthouse and Esquimault
b) Looking north from the "summit" of Mount Tolmie. You can almost
see my house in the distance between the trees.
